PROJECT NOTES:
SOLOSHYE - THE PILOT was shot in 1994 on a handheld JVC Camcorder and edited over a sleepless weekend using 3/4" U-matic decks. Self-financed on a shoestring budget, it was made possible with a volunteer cast & crew of over 100 people. It is based upon Cleetche’s original TV series which aired on Orillia’s Trillium Cable 10 in 1989. 23 years-old at the time, Cleetche endeavoured to bring his original series to the big city of Vancouver... but Vancouver was not yet ready for him.
SYNOPSIS:
Chased into a television set by a disgruntled mob, Cleetche takes viewers on a journey into the ‘world of Soloshye’ – a theatrical extension of his imagination inhabited by bizarre characters and offbeat storylines. A sketch comedy series that is both scripted and improvised, involving actors and people off the street, these stories include:
